1. Sanjeev Sinha named adviser for Rs 1.1 lakh crore bullet
train project:
Sanjeev Sinha, former Tata executive in Tokyo and the first
IIT-ian from Barmer, Rajasthan, has been appointed as adviser for the
Ahmedabad-Mumbai High Speed Rail project by Japan Railways. The ground-breaking
ceremony for the project, estimated to cost about Rs 1 lakh crore, is planned
in Ahmedabad on September 14 in the presence of Prime Ministers Shinzo Abe and
Narendra Modi.
2. Priyanka Pawar turns 8-year ban on failure in dope test:
Priyanka Pawar, who won the gold medal in the women's relay
in Asian Games, has been banned for eight years due to failing in the Dope
Test. Priyanka was selected in the Rio Olympics -2006 four times 400 meters
relay but she was later dropped out of the team. Ashwini Akunji was replaced in
the team.
3. JNUSU & DUSU poll results 2017:
In the election for the central panel of the Jawaharlal
Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU), United Left won the title and won all
four positions. Although there was a tough fight for the post of President,
Gita Kumari of United Left candidate, defeated ABVP fund Tripathi with 464
votes.
As per PTI, NSUI presidential candidate, Rocky Tusheed
grabbed the top post after winning by a margin of 1,590 votes, his party
colleague Kunal Sehrawat won the post of vice president by defeating ABVP
candidate by a mere 175 votes.
