1. Government asks 1,222 NGOs to validate bank accounts:

As many as 1,222 NGOs across the country have been directed by the home ministry to validate the bank accounts in which they receive foreign contribution, failure of which will invite punitive action. In a circular, the ministry said all NGOs registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) should receive foreign donations in a single designated bank account.

2. PM Narendra Modi, Shinzo Abe hold 8 km road show amid public display of bonhomie:
The streets of Ahmedabad today came alive with song and dance performances as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an 8-km road show with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe and his wife, the first such event by the Indian premier with a visiting head of government. India is poised to become the first nation to import the iconic Shinkansen bullet trains, which will be a highlight of India’s infrastructure upgrade programme.

3. Halimah Yacob named Singapore's first female president:

An establishment figure has been named Singapore's first female president after a "walkover" election that saw no vote after no other contenders ran for the position. Yacob is Singapore's first ethnic Malay president in 47 years since the late Yusof Ishak, who governed in the mid-1960s.

4. Donald Trump appoints Indian-American to key White House position:
US President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday appointed young Indian-American Raj Shah, who played a leading role in the Republican party's anti-Clinton campaign during polls, to a key White House position. Shah, whose parents immigrated to the US from Gujarat, has been appointed as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Communication Director and Research Director, as per an announcement made by the Presidential Transition Team.

5. India’s first advanced Homoeopathy Virology lab:
Kolkata on Tuesday got blessed with India’s first India’s first advanced Homoeopathy Virology. The laboratory, established at a cost of Rs. 8 crore is the only one in India for conducting basic and fundamental research in Homoeopathy for viral diseases like influenza, Japanese encephalitis, dengue, chikungunya, and swine flu. Homeopathy is already a popular practice in West Bengal and the inauguration of this lab will encourage for enhanced practice. AYUSH Minister Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the lab. This laboratory has been established to develop new drugs and technologies in Homoeopathy to combat emerging challenges of viral diseases. New drugs and technologies would also be developed here to combat emerging challenges of viral diseases.
