1. Cabinet approves implementation of the scheme “Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund(DPIDF)”:

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved a Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund” (DIDF) with an outlay of Rs 10,881 crore during the period from 2017-18 to 2028-29. Consequent to the Union Budget 2017-18 announcement, Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund will be set up as a corpus of Rs 8004 crore with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the Expenditure Finance Committee has given approval for. 
Allocation of Rs 864 Crore for meeting interest subvention will be released to NABARD over a period of 12 years covering the entire loan repayment period from 2017-18 to 2028-29.

2. Sushil Modi elected to head GST panel:

The government has constituted a five-member Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by Bihar’s deputy chief minister Sushil Modi to monitor technology-related implementation issues of GST. The setting up of GoM follows the decision taken in the 21st GST Council meeting, wherein states had raised the glitches being faced by taxpayers in filing their GST returns on GSTN. Other members include Chhattisgarh’s Minister for Commercial Taxes Amar Agrawal, Karnataka’s agriculture minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Kerala’s finance minister T M Thomas Isaac, Telangana’s finance minister Etela Rajender. 
The GoM has been formed “in order to monitor and resolve the IT challenges faced in the implementation of GST,” a release said. “The GoM will be assisted in its work by the Chairman, Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) and the CEO, GSTN,” it added.

3. Operation Insaniyat: India to send relief to Bangladesh to help with Rohingya influx:



In a press release put out by the Ministry of External Affairs, India will be sending "humanitarian relief" to Bangladesh on Thursday.
People displaced by violence walk in the banks of Mayu river with their belongings while moving to another village, in Buthidaung in the north of Rakhine state, Myanmar.
India is sending humanitarian assistance to Bangladesh to help with the influx of Rohingya refugees. A press release from the Ministry of External Affairs, "In response to the humanitarian crisis being faced on account of the large influx of refugees into Bangladesh, Government of India has decided to extend assistance to Bangladesh".

4. Father Tom Uzhunnalil, Indian Priest Kidnapped In Yemen, Rescued:

A priest from Kerala who was kidnapped in Yemen last year has been rescued, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted this afternoon. Father Tom Uzhunnalil was abducted by ISIS in March 2016 after an attack on an old people's home run by missionaries in the southern port city of Aden. Gunmen posing as relatives of one of the residents at the home burst inside, killing 16 including four Indian nuns.

5. BAI to confer first lifetime achievement award on Prakash Padukone:

Badminton Association of India (BAI) on Monday announced an annual lifetime achievement award to the greats of the game who have made rich contributions to the cause of the sport in India with former world number one Prakash Padukone the first recipient of this maiden initiative. Prakash Padukone, the legendary player is the only Indian male player to reach World No 1 ranking and will receive a cash award of Rs 10 lakh and a citation.

5. Nagaraja Sharma appointed new chairman and MD of United India Insurance:



The Union government has appointed M Nagaraja Sharma as the chairman and managing director of United India Insurance (UII). The appointments committee of the Union Cabinet approved his elevation, a government notification said. Sharma, currently the director and general manager of UII, is likely to assume the charge of his new post tomorrow. His retirement is due in May next year.
