1. London Tube Attack: 

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the explosion at the London underground station. Britain raises security threat level to critical. Islamic state militant group, which had earlier claimed responsibility for several attacks on Western cities in recent years, claimed it was responsible for London underground tube blast on Friday morning. The militant group, which had this year claimed their role in attacks in London and Manchester, said, “The bombing on a metro in London was carried out by a detachment of the Islamic State” group, in a statement published by its Amaq propaganda agency. Currently, the officials have no evidence to verify the claim. According to a report by Reuters, Western Intelligence officers have questioned similar claims in the past, saying that the ideology of Islamic State may have inspired the attackers, but no evidence has been found on whether the attack was orchestrated by ISIS.


2. New Lashkar commander in Kashmir: Who is Zeenat-ul-Islam?:

Intelligence inputs say Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT) has chosen Zeenat-ul-Islam alias Alqama, as its new commander. Islam is the first local face to head Lashkar operations in Kashmir. He hails from Sugan Zanipura in Shopian in South Kashmir. He was elevated after LeT commander Abu Ismail - the mastermind behind the July 10 Amarnath attack, which killed seven people, was killed in an encounter by the security forces.

3. Assam assembly adopts two child norm policy:
Assam health and family welfare minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday in state assembly said that service rules of the state government will changed to give effect to two child norms for the state government employees. Sarma moved a state government resolution incorporating population and woman empowerment policy of Assam. The resolution was passed in the state assembly after marathon debate. The policy seeks to bar those having more than two children from being elected or nominated to panchayat and other local bodies’ elections or government jobs.

4. IOC MAKES HISTORIC DECISION BY SIMULTANEOUSLY AWARDING OLYMPIC GAMES 2024 TO PARIS AND 2028 TO LOS ANGELES:

Paris and Los Angeles have been named as hosts of the 2024 and 2028 summer Games respectively by the International Olympic Committee. Both cities had wanted to host the 2024 event, before LA agreed to wait an extra four years after the IOC made guarantees on funding. The Paris Games, which had fallen short with bids for 2008 and 2012, will mark 100 years since it was last held in the French capital. Los Angeles hosted it in 1932 and 1984.

5. Karnataka unveils EV policy: First state to formulate an electric vehicle policy:

The Karnataka government on Wednesday approved ‘Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage Policy 2017’ to help the state become a hub for production of alternative fuel vehicles, reduce dependency on fossil fuels, bring down pollution levels and push the ‘Make In Karnataka’ initiative. Karnataka government’s ‘Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage Policy 2017’ aims to attract investments worth Rs31,000 crore and create around 55,000 employment opportunities.
