1. Oil & Natural Gas(ONGC) discovers oil in Arabian sea:

Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC) has made a significant oil discovery to the west of its prime Mumbai High fields in the Arabian sea, a senior official said on Wednesday.
The discovery in the well WO-24-3 is estimated to hold an in-place reserve of about 20 million tonnes, he said. Mumbai High, India’s biggest oil field, currently produces 205,000 barrels of oil per day (just over 10 million tonnes per annum) and the new find would add to that production in less than two years time.
“In all, nine objects or zones were tested and all of them were found to be hydrocarbon bearing. The last object tested flowed 3,300 barrels of oil,”

2. Thyssenkrupp council mulls merger deal with Tata Steel in Europe:

Thyssenkrupp's works council is prepared to consider a merger of the group's European steel operations with those of Tata Steel, even though it remains opposed to such a move as a way to restructure the business. The proposed joint venture that will create Europe’s second largest steel maker (after ArcelorMittal) provides Tata Steel an opportunity to stem further bleeding of its heavily loss-making European operations by transferring some €2.5 billion of term debt and about 18,000 workers to the merged entity to be based in Amsterdam.

3. International Day of Peace: 21 Sep. 2017

The theme for this year’s International Day Of Peace is ‘Together for Peace: Respect, Safety, and Dignity for All.’ 
This year the day is focused on mobilising people throughout the world to give a strong show of support for refugees and migrants.

4. Income Tax Department to launch Project Insight :
This project has been initiated for data mining, collection, collation and processing of such information for effective risk management with a view to widening and deepening tax base. 
The Income Tax department is planning to implement the first phase of ‘Project Insight’ from May 2017 to monitor high value transactions, with a view to to curbing the circulation of black money.

5. Indian Railways signs Rs 40,000 crore pacts with Alstom:

Indian Railways has signed a formal contract agreement with USA based GE (Marhowra) and France based Alstom (Madhepura) on Monday. The projects will attract an investment of Rs 40,000 core over a period of 10 years. Endorsing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make In India vision, French conglomerate Alstom plans to manufacture 800 "super high-power" locomotives in India over a decade, its Managing Director for India and South Asia Bharat Salhotra said.

6. Nomination for the 1st AICTE-ECI Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards - 2017:
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India & Engineering Council of India (ECI)), the apex Engineering Body of India are jointly holding a competition “AICTE-ECI Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards” for the students of AICTE approved technical institutions. The ‘AICTE-ECI Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards’ are inspired by the spirit of engineering and creation patronized by Lord Vishwakarma, the ruling deity of construction practices in India.
